TripMate AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Website analytics described in section 8 apply to tripmate.au only and are separate from the iOS app, which does not use advertising or tracking SDKs.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: Email address, password (hashed by our auth provider), and account identifiers
• Trip Data: Trip details, destinations, dates, activities, accommodations, transportation, notes, and collaboration membership
• User Content: Photos you attach, booking confirmation text or PDFs you import, and messages you send in a trip
• Inbound Email: If you forward booking emails to TripMate, the sender address and message content used to extract travel details
• Purchases: Subscription and AI credit pack purchase status processed by Apple; we store entitlement and credit balances to unlock features
• Usage Data: AI credit usage and feature interaction needed to operate credits and improve reliability
• Location (when permitted): Approximate location to show nearby places on the map
• Microphone / Speech (when permitted): Audio for voice translation and speech-to-text; processed to provide the feature
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the TripMate AI service
• Store and sync your trip planning data
• Process AI-powered features (trip analysis, booking extraction)
• Send important service notifications
• Improve and optimize the app experience
• Process subscription and in-app purchases

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is securely stored using Supabase cloud infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication systems
• Regular security updates

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service Providers: Cloud hosting (Supabase), AI services (OpenAI) for app functionality
• Trip Collaborators: Other users you invite to shared trips
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

5. Third-Party Services

Our app integrates with third-party services to provide features. Relevant content you submit (for example prompts, destination names, or booking text) may be sent to these providers solely to deliver the feature:

• Supabase: Authentication, database, and backend Edge Functions
• OpenAI: AI-powered trip analysis, suggestions, translation, and booking extraction
• Apple: Sign-in options (when enabled), App Store payments, and subscriptions
• TripAdvisor: Attraction and place search results
• Amadeus: Flight search results
• Unsplash / image providers: Destination and place imagery
• MailerLite: Optional marketing email list when you opt in to travel tips and product updates
• Booking Partners: Safari links to Expedia, Viator, and similar partners (you leave TripMate; booking is completed on their site)

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View your personal data stored in the app
• Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data (More → Settings → Delete account)
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting support
• Opt-out: Disable optional features, marketing emails, and local trip reminders in Settings

6a. Marketing Emails

If you opt in (for example during onboarding or in Settings → Email), we may use your account email address to send occasional TripMate travel tips and product updates via MailerLite. You can turn this off anytime in Settings, or unsubscribe from any email we send.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time:

• Open the TripMate app
• Go to the More tab
• Open Settings
• Under Account, tap Delete account
• Confirm deletion

This permanently removes your account and associated trip data from our servers. App Store subscription billing (if any) must be managed separately in your Apple ID subscription settings.

8. Analytics and Advertising

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use tripmate.au. This may include page views, device type, and general location. We also display Google AdSense advertisements on some pages.

You can learn more about Google's practices at Google Privacy Policy. You may opt out of personalized ads via Google Ad Settings.

9. Email Booking Import

If you forward booking confirmation emails to TripMate, we process the sender address and email content to extract travel details. We only accept messages sent from the email address registered to your TripMate account.

10. Children's Privacy

TripMate AI is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
